Goods are rarely stopped at a border because of what is in the bag. They are stopped because a certificate of origin names a slightly different consignee than the bill of lading, because a weight on the packing list does not match the invoice, or because a phytosanitary certificate was issued after the goods had already sailed and is therefore worthless.
None of these are difficult problems. They are clerical ones, and they are expensive precisely because they are avoidable. A container sitting in a port while a corrected document is issued from Ghana can cost more in demurrage than the margin on the shipment, and the customer at the other end learns something about you that no amount of good product will unlearn.
So we treat paperwork as part of the shipment rather than something arranged afterwards. Certificate of origin for the consignment. Certificate of analysis matching the specification you agreed, for that specific lot. Phytosanitary certificate where the destination requires one. Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, prepared together so the numbers on each agree with the numbers on the others.
We send the set ahead of the vessel, so your clearing agent has everything before the ship arrives rather than the week after. If your buyer needs something particular — halal documentation, an organic certificate, a supplier questionnaire about labour practices — ask early and we will arrange it. Asked late, some of these take weeks, and no amount of goodwill compresses that.
